Playground Remodel for the Swinomish Tribe in La Conner, WA

Playground Remodel for the Swinomish Tribe

This playground remodel for the Swinomish Tribe in La Conner, WA immediately stole our hearts. Our excavation team and carpentry team would get to collaborate on work we already knew how to do well – earth moving and grading, building a covered learning area and restrooms, and installing sheds and playhouses. On top of that, we’d get to add something new to our repertoire – installing play equipment. The scope was enough to grab our interest and, knowing our real customer here would be a bunch of amazing kids, we were determined to win the project.

Designing a Playground That Honors Nature and Tradition

The playground layout and details inspire a curiosity of nature and instill the importance of tradition in the children who play there. Sweet wooden playhouses are arranged around a play firepit area with raised garden beds. The covered learning area is adorned with incredible totem carvings crafted by one of the tribe members. All of this overlooks the gorgeous Swinomish Channel.
