Columbia Historic Craftsman Remodel + Addition

HIGHLINE CONSTRUCTION

Situated in Bellingham’s desirable Columbia neighborhood and on double lot with tons of craftsman charm, this century-old home was ripe for a remodel and addition that would honor its original character while elevating its quality.

Our in-house architect designed an addition on the back of the home. This allowed us to move the primary suite to the main floor and create a space that would allow for aging-in-place.

Due to the historic nature of the home, significant work was needed to improve its condition, but the owner was also interested in adding a sense of Southern charm, noticeable in sweet details throughout, such as the star cut-outs our carpentry team added to the steps leading up to the front porch and deck.

While a high level of intention was put into maintaining the most impressive parts of the home’s original craftsman-style, contemporary finishes were skillfully incorporated to create an overall timeless, classy, and comfortable space. Our in-house architect, Allison Crandall, collaborated with Colleen Waguespack Interiors to create a cohesive experience throughout the home.

Bespoke details grace this home with conversation starters around every corner. Carpenter Ant created the custom powder room vanity, and Auda Sinda crafted the custom woven stair runner. Several of the original leaded windows were restored with expert help from Prime Sash. Marvin custom designed and manufactured additional new windows to match.

Impressive work by Molly Maguire Landscape Architecture completes this work-of-art property that honors the past while renewing the beauty of the Columbia neighborhood for years to come.
