This modern mountain cabin was designed from the ground up in collaboration with Johnston Architects based in Seattle, WA and Highline Interiors. Drawing from contemporary NW Architecture and the natural materials in the surrounding area, the home features many natural elements along with industrial touches.
Rough timber columns frame the exterior entrances, accentuating the T&G cedar siding. The dark grey painted hardi panels further highlight the wood window trim details. The simple shed roof design allows for ample light to penetrate the interior spaces and create a sheltered patio for the integrated in-ground hot tub.
The interior of the modern cabin features polished concrete flooring. Highline Interiors installed heated floors to ensure a comfortable space year-round. Following the client’s vision, we brought the outdoors inside with fir ceilings throughout the home, fir paneled cabinetry and trim creates a warmth and depth to the spaces. The full height fir panels above the kitchen cabinets draw the eye upward to the beautiful variation in the tongue & groove ceiling. The open floor plan allows for a communal feeling whether sitting by the fire or working in the kitchen.
The fireplace is the central focal point of the living room and anchors the space with its dark steel paneling and reclaimed wood mantle. The custom built-in seating on either side and wood storage below create space in the room.
Simple and modern industrial elements such as cardecking in the ceiling of the laundry room with exposed steel beams, and a custom ladder to the overhead loft area create a functional yet elegant home.
