Our civil team started as a team of two: Levi and Jason. This dream duo came to Highline with an existing relationship working with Nooksack Salmon Enhancement Association (NSEA) on numerous projects to support stewardship of local fish and streams. With a shared passion for nature, our team was excited to inherit this relationship and continue supporting the important work of NSEA in our communities.
One of the first projects Highline did for NSEA was this bridge over Deer Creek in Ferndale, WA. A pre-existing culvert had been washed away by flooding. NSEA identified an appropriate 50’ prefabricated steel bridge to replace the failed culvert and we were brought in for the install.
The placement of this bridge required teamwork and precision after relocating power, phone, cable, and water utilities. We trucked the bridge in and assembled it on site. Proper erosion control and stream channel construction techniques were implemented to ensure a long-term solution for the property owners and the fish and wildlife who depend on the stream.
