This project for Skagit Fisheries Enhancement Group was very meaningful for us. Whereas we have done a lot of fish passage projects in Whatcom County, it was fun for us to expand this work into Skagit County and make a broader impact on the NW Washington salmon population.
An undersized culvert was partially blocking a fish passage on Lower Day Slough, a high priority restoration area. Our team removed the insufficient culvert and replaced it with a 50’ prefabricated steel bridge. Completing this project required excavation, erosion control, trucking, dewatering, stream channel construction, and scour rock installation. The new bridge is designed to be fully submerged underwater during floods, offering an effective solution built to last.
