Chuckanut Mountain Addition

This lovely home underwent a significant update and floor plan addition. The original, single story home was transformed, adding a second level and increasing the first floor living space. Originally, a long, covered walkway ran alongside the house from the garage. Working with Carpenter Architects and Highline Interiors, we enclosed the walkway, adding floor-to-ceiling windows to maintain the sense of openness and light along the hall. The black slate floor is heated with radiant heat, maintaining a comfortable atmosphere and ease of cleaning.

The home expansion began with stairs to the new second floor, creating a simple, elegant entryway area with built-in maple benches and plenty of light. Adding a guest suite was the main focus of the remodel, including a bathroom, bedroom, closet and study. As guests are not always present, this space was designed to allow for easy transformation, providing ample floor space when not in use.

A murphy bed, integrated into storage closets in the bedroom allows for yoga and meditation when tucked away into the wall. The unique closet is positioned in between the bedroom and the study and features double bi-fold pocket doors, allowing the rooms to function as one large space or to be partitioned off, depending on the use. The maple floors throughout accentuate the natural light and brightness of the spaces.

The light maple is continued in the kitchenette cabinets and built-in shelving in the bathroom. Custom travertine marble counter and backsplash in the kitchenette provide texture and compliment the light, clean colors.

Overall, this home expansion focuses on a clean, calm aesthetic, highlighting select natural materials with light and open spaces.
